This Lancia-Inspired Supercar May Have Already Doubled In Value

The Lancia 037 is a rally legend, dethroning the dominant Audi Quattro and winning the 1983 World Rally Championship with Walter Röhrl and Markku Alén. Recognizing a gap in the market for a modernized, road-legal version of this car, Kimera Automobili introduced the EVO37 restomod in 2021. Naturally, the model quickly became one of the priciest and most desirable cars in its class.

The EVO37, capped at just 37 units, was initially priced from €450,000 ($512,000). Five years ago, that sounded like a lot of money, particularly for a car built by a brand with no provenance.

As it turns out, Kimera nailed the high-performance and retro-themed formula with the EVO37, thanks in part to input from Sergio Limone, the man behind the original 037, and Claudio Lombardi, who engineered Lancia’s ultra-successful rally engines. The company unveiled the upgraded EVO38 in 2024, but that didn’t affect the skyrocketing prices of its predecessor.

The EVO37 is now so sought after, that number 18 of the 37 units built, is expected to sell for between $1,081,000 and $1,309,000 in a Broad Arrow auction next month. This is more than double its original price, meaning that the car could end up being a really profitable investment.

This particular example was finished in early 2025 and stands out thanks to a special shade of metallic brown, known as Kimera Luci del Bosco. This paint is inspired by the iconic Lamborghini Miura, and looks absolutely superb complemented by bronze-colored alloy wheels.

Although the EVO37’s design is very similar to the original Lancia, it looks a little more modern and aggressive, largely thanks to the huge ducktail-style lip spoiler at the rear. It’s also hard to argue with what powers the car.

Power comes from a supercharged and turbocharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder with 498 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. This engine works alongside a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels, allowing the car to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just three seconds and power through to a 193 mph (310 km/h) top speed.

The EVO37 isn’t just a one-trick pony that does well in a straight line either, as it also includes Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and Öhlins double-wishbone suspension.

The cabin also looks superb. It’s trimmed in the finest beige leather and includes carbon fiber bucket seats, an Alcantara-wrapped three-spoke Sparco steering wheel, and has loads of exposed carbon fiber. Prospective customers who aren’t a fan of the paint finish or the interior configuration can rest easy knowing that Kimera itself says it’ll happily modify the car to meet the next owner’s wishes.
