Cadillac Built Its Most Powerful Blackwing Ever For Only 26 People

  • Cadillac has introduced the most powerful Blackwing ever created.
  • A six-speed manual is the only transmission offered on this edition.
  • 26 units will be made and each features a Midnight Stone Frost exterior.

Cadillac has unveiled the CT5-V Blackwing F1 Collector Series, ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. It’s an “ultra-exclusive” special edition that celebrates the brand’s entry into the pinnacle of racing.

Developed in close collaboration with Formula 1 and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, the limited edition model is the “most powerful Blackwing ever produced by Cadillac” as its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine has been tuned to produce 685 hp (511 kW / 695 PS) and 673 lb-ft (911 Nm) of torque. That’s 17 hp (13 kW / 17 PS) and 14 lb-ft (19 Nm) more than the regular model.

The small increase in power is being attributed to an upgraded supercharger that was developed in collaboration with GM Motorsports. The company didn’t say much about it, but noted it sports a CNC-machined cover with an F1 logo.

The engine is connected exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission and each model comes equipped with the Precision Package. The latter includes a track-tuned suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, and summer-only tires.

Besides the powertrain updates, the special edition has a Midnight Stone Frost exterior with Carbon Flash Metallic wheels that are joined by Harbor Gray Metallic brake calipers. Buyers will also find a carbon fiber body kit with a Switchblade Silver pinstripe as well as black badging and monochrome Cadillac crests. They’re joined by relatively subtle FIA and F1 accents.

As for the interior of the Cadillac, we can see black leather sport seats with silver stitching and piping. The seats are also notable for featuring embossed F1 logos on the headrests.

Other highlights include a 3D-printed F1 shifter medallion, “Cadillac Formula 1 Team” sill plates, and an FIA logo that has been incorporated into the carbon fiber on the center console. Buyers can also expect to find the usual equipment including a 33-inch display.

The CT5-V Blackwing F1 Collector Series will be offered in Canada and the United States, and production begins later this year. Only 26 units will be available and they’ll likely carry a hefty premium over the standard model, which begins at $98,900 before a $2,100 gas guzzler tax and $1,795 destination fee.
