For $17K, You Might Forgive Honda’s Elevate ADV For Faking It

  • The Honda Elevate SUV gains a new ADV Edition in India.
  • It adds orange highlights, decals, and illuminated cabin trim.
  • It retains the FWD setup with no chassis or power upgrades.

Honda sells a small army of sub-compact crossovers across different markets, and the Elevate is the one built for India. None of these cars are exactly itching to leave the tarmac, but that hasn’t stopped automakers from dressing them up as if they might.

The Indian-built Elevate Elevate made its debut in 2023 and has since been exported to Japan, where it goes by the WR-V name.

Now Honda has added another variant to the lineup with the Elevate ADV Edition, aimed at a younger crowd that likes its city cars to look as if they’re ready to dip their wheels into the mud. The new version adds brighter accents and a dose of faux off-road attitude, giving the familiar SUV a tougher look without changing what it actually is underneath.

Off-Road Looks, City Soul

The Elevate ADV Edition distinguishes itself with a revised grille that trades the horizontal pattern for vertical slits, highlighted by a bright orange stripe. Orange accents reappear on the bumper intakes, paired with glossy black alloy wheels and an aluminum-look skid plate at the rear.

Other unique touches include black and orange decals on the hood, ADV lettering on the front doors, and special emblems on the front fenders and the tailgate. Buyers have the option between Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic shades, also available with a black roof.

The interior continues the theme with a black headliner and leatherette upholstery stitched in “Active Orange.” The same shade appears on the door panels, gearknob, and air vents. The centerpiece is a new illuminated panel on the passenger side of the dashboard, displaying an ADV terrain pattern that cycles through seven colors.

Equipment remains generous, including a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch display between analog dials, an eight-speaker sound system, and a sunroof. Safety features include six airbags and Honda’s ADAS suite as standard.

The styling might hint at ruggedness, but the mechanics tell a different story. The new appearance package doesn’t come with any changes under the skin, so the SUV remains front-wheel drive only, which naturally limits its off-road ability.

This means it is still powered by the naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine, which is good for 119 hp (89 kW / 121 PS) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or a CVT with seven simulated gears.

At 4,312 mm (169.8 inches) long, the Elevate shares its platform with the Honda City sedan, explaining the absence of an all-wheel-drive option. What it does have is a useful 220 mm (8.7 inches) of ground clearance, which makes it well suited to the patchwork of Indian roads.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Honda Elevate ADV Edition is priced between Rs. 15,29,000 and 16,66,800 ($17,300–18,800), depending on the chosen specification. This positions it as the range-topping variant in the lineup, above the standard model that begins at Rs. 10,99,900 ($12,400).
