This BMW M7 Super Sedan Is Too Good To Be Real

- Digital artist envisions a true BMW M7 with aggressive styling cues.
- BMW is currently preparing a Neue Klasse facelift for the 7-Series.
- Similar renderings have also been created for a possible X7 M SUV.
BMW’s reluctance to build an M7 has always been a bit of a puzzle. For a brand that rarely shies away from performance, the hesitation to place its famed M badge on the 7-Series feels oddly cautious, even if it’s not entirely without precedent. Remember the E31 8-Series? Well, the decision makers at Munich never green lit an M8 at the time.
Still, that decision has left BMW without a true rival to the Mercedes-AMG S 63 and, as far as we’re concerned, the world could always use another M car (or two…).

Over the years, plenty of car designers have tried to imagine what an M7 could look like, and these new renderings from Kelsonik are among the most convincing we’ve seen. Given the controversial styling of the current 7-Series, an M makeover could only be an improvement, and the visual tweaks imagined here make the big luxury sedan far more appealing.
The most dramatic modifications have been made to the car’s front end. While it retains a pair of massive kidney grilles, they are smaller than those of lesser 7-Series models, and are blacked out, just like on the M5.
Additionally, the odd split headlights of the standard car have been replaced by a cleaner, more cohesive set that visually connects with the grilles. A redesigned bumper adds larger air intakes and a fresh lower grille, giving the front end a far more assertive stance.

As for the rest of the car, Kelsonik adds some subtle touches that make a difference, including the signature M wheels, black window surrounds, and a reshaped rear end. The taillights, reminiscent of the current M3, pair with a discreet lip spoiler and a muscular bumper and diffuser, both finished in black to tie the design together.
As tempting as the prospect of an M7 is, we’re not holding out hope of BMW ever launching one. Even if it did, it would almost certainly not look like this, as the 7-Series is currently being updated with the Neue Klasse design language and, based on recent prototypes, will retain the current car’s split headlights.
BMW X7 M

Kelsonik didn’t stop there. He also imagined what an M version of the upcoming BMW X7 might look like, and it follows a similar formula. The render removes the SUV’s divided headlights in favor of traditional units that are paired to subtly reshaped kidney grilles and a revised bumper.
Despite the enticing visuals, BMW has no plans for a full-blown M version of the next X7. Instead, buyers will have to make do with an M70 variant of the upcoming electric iX7, reportedly delivering more than 800 horsepower. Still no true M, but not too shabby either, if you ask us. Alpina’s own interpretation of the SUV is also on the way and will likely push that figure even higher, offering a more exclusive spin on the big luxury SUV.
