Everyone Thought Florida Police Blew Tax Money On A McLaren Cruiser They Didn’t

  • McLaren 720S joins Casselberry PD’s lineup for outreach and safety events.
  • The white supercar sports official police livery and flashing windshield lights.
  • Authorities clarified the exotic isn’t for high-speed chases or patrol duties.

Nothing says “community policing” quite like a six-figure supercar with flashing lights. The Casselberry Police Department in Florida has a new whip, and it just so happens to be one of the quickest supercars on the planet.

Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately for some, Florida police authorities won’t be using it to chase down criminals, as is so often the case with police departments that add sports cars or supercars to their fleets.

Instead, this white McLaren 720S will be used for community outreach and public education events. The police didn’t pay for it either, and say that the McLaren Orlando dealership has generously donated it.

To ensure the 720S looks like a proper patrol car, it’s been equipped with the same livery that all of the local PD’s patrol cars have. This includes a large crest on the hood and sides, as well as black and blue accents. We can also see it has flashing lights behind the windshield.

Initially, some locals were concerned the police may have purchased the car when videos of it TikTok started doing the rounds, but as pointed out by Road&Track, that wasn’t the case. While we know that McLaren Orlando donated the car, it’s unclear if they also paid to have it wrapped and modified.

The police say they will use the exotic to “help promote safe driving and positive police community engagement,” adding that it will be displayed at many upcoming events. What locals won’t see it used for, however, is performing policing duties.

Casselberry isn’t the only department adding exotic hardware to its lineup. Earlier this year, the Florida Highway Patrol introduced a 2023 C8 Corvette to its fleet.

It didn’t pay for that car either, as it had actually been seized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and gifted to local troopers.
