Dodge’s New Gas Muscle Car Roars Back With Real Exhaust Sounds

  • The 2026 Dodge Charger Sixpack has been caught during a commercial shoot in Detroit.
  • The gas-powered muscle car will arrive later this year and attempt to salvage terrible sales.
  • It’s powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with outputs of 420 hp and 550 hp.

The Charger Daytona landed with a thud as Hemi-loving fans turned their back on the overpriced EV. Even after five figure discounts, Dodge only managed to sell 4,299 units in the first six months of the year.

Those are terrible numbers, but help is on the way. An electric sedan will arrive in the second half of this year as will the Charger Sixpack. The latter is notable for having a twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six developing 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS).

While Dodge hasn’t given a specific launch date, it appears that day is approaching as a Redditor caught a gas-powered coupe during a commercial shoot. Filmed just a few blocks away from Comerica Park, the clip shows the bright red coupe accelerate down the street and then kick out the rear end while making a turn.

All of this was done in front of two of Detroit’s finest as the roads were shut down for filming. Speaking of which, if you look closely, you can see a drone record the entire thing before taking off.

Despite looking virtually identical to the electric variant, the Charger Sixpack has a proper exhaust instead of the fratzonic non-sense. It sounds pretty good, although nothing will ever replace the old V8 rumble.

We can expect to learn more about the car in the coming weeks, but the biggest question is likely pricing. The 2025 Charger Daytona starts at $59,595 and that’s a huge increase over the 2023 Challenger, which began at $32,800. The gas-powered model will presumably be cheaper than the EV, although that remains to be seen.
