PaxPower Built The Single-Cab F-150 Raptor R That Ford Won’t

The current crop of American super trucks is pretty impressive, but they’re also pretty brutish. That leaves a lot of room for tuners to lighten and refine trucks like the Ford F-150 Raptor R, which is exactly what PaxPower has done.

Approached by a customer in Saudi Arabia, where off-roaders prefer single cab trucks, the shop has created a two-door F-150 Raptor. Not only does it look rad as hell, it also weighs an estimated 1,700 lbs (771 kg) less than the crew cab F-150 Raptor R that Ford sells, and a staggering 2,500 lbs (1,134 kg) less than the Ram 1500 TRX.

In addition to its much lower curb weight, the two-door Raptor is about three feet shorter (in both over all length and wheelbase) than the factory four-door. That makes it about the same length as a Ford Bronco or a Jeep Wrangler, two of the most capable off-roaders on sale today.

Meanwhile, power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 that has been equipped with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. Together, they make 775 hp (564 kW/786 PS), around 70 (52 kW/71 PS) more than the stock F-150 Raptor R. PaxPower says that it plans to test the truck properly in the coming months, but expects it to be able to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, thanks to its enormous power, and its all-wheel-drive system.

To ensure that it looks like a real Raptor, the shop used as many Ford parts as possible. That includes the OEM hood, fenders, grille, trim, flares, vents, and even the box sides, which had to be cut down to fit on this much shorter truck.

Underneath, the shortie Raptor is equipped with longer control arms, internal bypass Fox Racing shocks, longer axles and steering links, as well as a number of other high-performance elements. Inside, the truck gets OEM seat covers with added bolstering to keep the driver in place. It also gets the Raptor’s steering wheel, whose buttons and paddle shifters are both functional.

The two examples seen here are destined for the customer mentioned above, and at their request, also get custom steel bumpers, four massive six-inch LED lights, and Mustang-style stripes. They also get 17-inch Method Racing Wheels shod in 37-inch BFGoodrich K02 All-Terrain tires.

However, PaxPower says that it has built a third example that it will be using as a shop truck and test vehicle. If any other potential customers are interested in a two-door F-150 Raptor, they are invited to reach out to discuss build options.
