Holy Grail! Rare Porsche 935 Auction Is At $1.3 Million And Counting
One could argue that Porsche’s recent launch of the track-only 911 GT3 R Rennsport makes the GT2 RS-based 935 from 2019 seem a little less special. However, the modern-day interpretation of the 935 remains extremely desirable and a rather stunning example is currently up for auction through Bring a Trailer.
This 935 is the 49th example of 77 units produced by Porsche and remained in the possession of its original owner until August 2022 before it was picked up by the selling dealer. Like all other examples, it is based around the road-going 911 GT2 RS and has a design inspired by the Le Mans-winning 935/78. While it unfortunately cannot be driven on the street, it is just about as special and exclusive as a track-day special gets.

Porsche offered buyers of the 935 the choice between eight exterior wraps with classic racing liveries. This particular car has a livery inspired by the car from Interscope Racing that claimed victory at the 1979 24 Hours of Daytona. Most of the bodywork is finished in black but there are elements bathed in red, orange, and pink. The car also has number 70 roundels on the sides and sits on a set of BBS forged alloy wheels that measure 18×11.5 at the front and 18×13 at the rear and finished in matte black.
The Bring a Trailer listing reveals that the car has been driven just 90 miles (146 km) and as such, it shows minimal signs of use. The interior looks particularly tidy thanks to the Recaro racing seat with a carbon fiber shell, Schroth six-point harnesses, a roll cage, black Alcantara across the dashboard, and a titanium shifter with a laminated wood knob. The seller notes the car has only ever been driven to two events and to a photo shoot.
A look at the factory invoice reveals that the 935 had a total cost of $1,048,080 and at the time of writing, bidding had already exceeded $1.3 million with over a week left in the auction.
