Would You Buy A Modern Chevy K5 Blazer That Looks Like This?

The Chevrolet K5 Blazer is and will always remain one of the carmaker’s most beloved models. Its design is iconic and in its heyday, served as a compelling alternative to the Ford Bronco. Sadly, it’s been resigned to the history books but if GM ever wants to revive it, it would be wise to make it look a little like this.

These sketches are the work of GM designer Darby Jean Barber and were recently shared on the General Motors Design page on Instagram. They depict an all-electric successor to the K5 Blazer that retains a two-door body style while also having a modern and compelling design that could serve as the perfect addition to Chevy’s current range of SUVs.

Catching the eye up front are LED headlights and the obvious lack of a traditional grille. While we think the car’s front end lacks a little personality without a grille, it makes up for it with a black skid plate.

The modern K5 Blazer has also been designed to sit on a set of black wheels with bead locks and off-road tires, adding to its dramatic profile and presence. Barber has also drawn squared front and rear wheel arches while finishing the windshield surround, roof, and pillars in gloss black to contrast the green paint adorning the rest of the body. Our favorite part of the SUV’s design is the shoulder line stretching from the Chevrolet badge on the fascia, through the headlights, and along the top of the doors.

Rounding out the design is a set of LED taillights each made up of five horizontal strips. There is also a spoiler stretching out from the roof as well as a black bumper.
