Ferrari Built One F8 Tributo For The 2023MY. Here’s Why That Makes It Really Special

Image
Prior to discontinuing the F8 Tributo coupe after the introduction of the hybrid 296 GTB, Ferrari produced a single unit of the supercar for the 2023 model year. A company spokesperson recently informed Car and Driver that while production of the F8 Spider continues, it killed off the F8 Tributo Coupe after it stopped accepting orders in March last year. The sole 2023 example was built for Ferrari North America but it’s unclear if it resides in the United States, Canada, or Latin America. Ferrari never formally referred to the hybrid 296 GTB as the successor to the F8 and technically, it’s not and instead pushes into an entirely new performance bracket. However, the arrival of the 296 GTB did make the F8 feel a little outdated and underpowered, even thought it does cost $40,000 more. Making the F8 Tributo special is

Waymo Expanding To Austin, Dropping Pacifica To Go EV-Only

Image
Automakers aren’t the only ones going electric as Waymo has announced plans to phase out the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and go EV-only. In an update, the autonomous driving firm said the plug-in hybrid minivan will be replaced by the Jaguar I-Pace in Phoenix and the East Valley region late next month. When this occurs, the entire Waymo One ride-hailing fleet will be fully electric. Waymo said “Electric vehicles like the I-Pace generate less carbon emissions than their gas counterparts, but with the average vehicle in the U.S. parked 95% of the time, their full benefits are often unrealized. We believe that autonomous EVs efficiently driven around the clock can maximize those environmental benefits with a significantly higher vehicle utilization.” Waymo went on to note their EVs are charged with 100% renewable energy and say they’re looking forward to future electric vehicles such as those made by Zeekr . US-Spec Alfa Romeo Tonale Goes Into Production, Arrives In June For $42,995

Image
The Alfa Romeo Tonale was introduced over a year ago and it’s finally coming to America as production of the US-spec crossover is now underway. Set to arrive at dealerships in June, the 2024 Tonale starts at $42,995 and is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit as long as the plug-in hybrid crossover is leased instead of purchased. That makes leasing a no-brainer and we can likely expect attractive offers at launch. While Alfa Romeo opened pre-orders for the $44,995 Ti and $47,495 Veloce trims months ago, the company has confirmed they’ll be joined by an entry-level Tonale Sprint. Driven: 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale Is Big On Style And Space, But Hybrid Powertrain Needs Work Alfa Romeo hasn’t released a detailed equipment list, but the Tonale Sprint will likely have LED lighting units and 18-inch alloy wheels. We can also expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto as well as wireless Apple CarPlay. Other highlig

Street Racers Violently Crash Into Dodge Challenger Doing Donuts In Michigan Intersection

Image
The intersection of East South Boulevard and Centerpoint Parkway in Pontiac, Michigan was the scene of a violent accident between one person doing donuts and two other street racing Thursday night. One of the three individuals driving at the time is in grave condition as a result. The crash involved a stolen Dodge Challenger , a Nissan 350Z, and a Ford Focus. According to police, the Challenger, driven by a 24-year-old man from Saint Clair Shores, had been reported as stolen out of Toledo, Ohio. The video shows him doing donuts in the middle of the intersection while a bystander films. Shortly after it begins we see one car fly into the frame before it seems to clip just the front section of the Challenger, destroying its headlights in the process. As the first drag racing car is almost out of the video frame we see a second car rush in and hit the Challenger directly in the side. One-Off Lotec C1000 Supercar With 1,000 HP Built For An Oil Tycoon Could Be Yours

Image
This is the one-off Lotec C1000 from the 1990s and while you may not be familiar with it, it is a very special car and is currently looking for a new home. As is so often the case with vehicles from small brands, the conception of the Lotec C1000 was rather unusual. It was brought to life when Lotec – then known as building Group 6 and Group C racing cars – was contacted by an oil tycoon from the United Arab Emirates. He asked Lotec to build him the world’s fastest car and the C1000 is what it came up with. Read: This Miami Dealer Sold Four Prized Porsche 959s in 2021 Underpinning the C1000 is a carbon fiber chassis and when combined with the lightweight carbon fiber body panels, it tips the scales at just 1,080 kg (2,381 lbs). Lotec then fitted it with a 5.6-liter V8 sourced from Mercedes-Benz but outfitted with a pair of Garrett turbochargers. The car was good for 1,000 hp back in the day, all of which was sent to the rear wheels courtesy of a Hewland five-speed racing transmis

2024 Porsche Cayenne Exterior Design Revealed Through Infotainment System?

Image
Soon after Porsche unveiled the heavily-updated interior of the 2024 Cayenne, a pair of images have surfaced online that seem to preview the exterior design of the facelifted SUV. These photos that were shared to Instagram by Cochespias1 and Wilcoblok appear to have been snapped from the updated infotainment system of the 2024 Cayenne. They show a detailed computer-generated image of the SUV and while it’s not quite as compelling as seeing it out on the road without camouflage, we do get an unimpeded (albeit low-resolution) look at the updated exterior design. The revised front fascia immediately catches your attention. Porsche has overhauled the headlights, designing units with a slightly more squared shape and complete with four horizontal LED daytime running lights incorporated into them. The design of these headlights has necessitated a new hood being installed as well. Read: 2024 Porsche Cayenne Unveils Its New Interior With Available Passenger Display Images Cochespias1 &

Did Lamborghini Play It Too Safe With the Revuelto Design?

Image
You’ll have heard the story a hundred times about how Lamborghini ’s most famous car got its name. According to the legend someone – some say a guard, the car’s designer Marcello Gandini says a body profiler – caught sight of the car and exclaimed one word: “Countach!” That word has been variously translated as referring to shock and astonishment, something a bit ruder, or, according to Gandini, “plague” or “contagion.” Whatever the word really meant doesn’t really matter. We can all get the gist of it and understand why the guy might have yelled it. Hey, the Countach looks outrageous even now, more than 50 years after anyone had laid eyes on the prototype, so just imagine the impact it would have had on a simple Italian labourer who probably commuted to work in a bubble-shaped 18 hp (18 PS) Fiat 500 if he even had a set of wheels.
