This Mercedes-AMG Minivan Racked Up $42,000 In Service Costs Over 5 Years

Image
A 2007 Mercedes-AMG R63, one of only about 200 ever made, was recently sold for $50,000. Possibly the most performance-focused minivan ever, the AMG R63 packs a 503hp V8 engine. It’s also one of the most expensive to maintain and the seller brought receipts to prove it. The Mercedes-Benz AMG R63 is a snarling beast wrapped in the body of a minivan. There’s nothing like it. Beneath its unassuming, people-carrier exterior lies a rumbling 6.2-liter V8 capable of belting out a brutal 503 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It seats six with all the luxury you’d expect from a top-end Benz, channels power to all four wheels, and may be one of the purest expressions of a “sleeper” on four wheels. One of these unicorns recently appeared at auction, and that’s interesting because this model is incredibly rare. Mercedes only made 200 of these for the whole world, making it not only the rarest of the R-Class family but also among the rarest AMG models ever produced. It’s believed

Toyota Hints At Production Land Cruiser Pickup, If You Like The Concept

Image
The CALTY Land Cruiser ROX concept might be more than just a flashy SEMA build. Toyota claims the ROX concept can “easily be envisioned as a future production model.” The company wants to see how the world reacts to a potential Land Cruiser pickup. The Toyota Land Cruiser ROX concept is shaping up to be one of the standout attractions of the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, rolling in as a heavily modified, roofless pickup variant of the new off-roader. While most SEMA builds are little more than imaginative one-offs destined for oblivion, the extent of custom-designed components on the ROX—and a cryptic hint from Toyota—suggests it could evolve into an actual production model. Think of it as a lifestyle-oriented pickup version of a true off-roader. Ford Takes Matters Into Its Own Hands To Speed Up NACS Adapter Roll Out

Image
Ford will offer its own branded CCS to NACS adapter, which is manufactured by Lectron. Reports state that Ford’s new approach may be due to Tesla’s slow roll-out of its own adapters. Ford customers have also reported issues with previous adapters, including slow charging and port damage. The state of charging infrastructure remains a primary concern for many debating whether to switch to EVs. So, when Ford opted to become the first non-Tesla automaker to commit to Tesla’s NACS charge port, it triggered a slew of other manufacturers to do the same. By adopting NACS in favors of CCS, Ford’s vehicles will be able to have access to Tesla’s expansive Supercharger network. However, there was one catch: the ports will only start appearing on Fords from 2025. Luckily for existing Ford EV owners, the company decided to offer Tesla’s CCS to NACS adapter completely free of charge. Four Ferrari Supercars May Have Loose Driveshafts

Image
A handful of Roma Spider, Portofino M, and F8 Spider models require driveshaft screws to be properly tightened. Ferrari warns that loose driveshaft screws may reduce traction, posing an increased risk of a crash. If you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a new supercar, you’d expect it to be absolutely perfect and free of even the tiniest of faults. However, no car is immune to the occasional misstep, and Ferrari has just issued a recall for a handful of its vehicles that have an issue related to the driveshaft. In July, Ferrari received a report in Europe about a 296 GTS with a loud driveshaft. It analyzed the supercar and determined the issue was caused because the driveshaft screws were not tight enough. Ferrari then started an internal investigation on its production assembly lines to see if it could find any other vehicles with improperly tightened driveshaft screws.
