Don’t Be This Jeep Driver: Brake-Checking A Semi Is A Darwin Award Move

Image
A Jeep Wrangler driver missed an exit and accidentally ended up stopped on the highway. To get out of the situation they cut off a semi-truck driver on US-287 before brake-checking it. There’s no word on if the Wrangler driver faced any consequences for the reckless action. Reckless driving often involves driving too fast for conditions, drifting, or burning out where one shouldn’t . In this case, though, it’s completely the opposite and entails a driver going too slowly and then slowing down even further. Cutting off any car in traffic is dangerous. Braking-checking one is too. When one does it to a semi-truck, it’s dumb and newsworthy. The incident reportedly happened on US-287 just outside of Arlington, Texas on June 24. In it, we see everything from the dashcam of the 18-wheeler. The truck approaches a fork in the road with all forward lanes blocked by emergency vehicles. As a result, all traffic must use the far left two lanes to exit the highway. More: Brake-Checki...

While The US And EU Raise Trade Barriers, Australia Opens Its Doors To Chinese EVs

Image
Multiple Chinese automakers are looking to do battle in Australia, thanks to growing EV demand. Unlike the US and the EU, Australia is unlikely to implement trade restrictions and welcomes competition. Tesla remains the best-selling EV Down Under, but increased Chinese competition will threaten its lead. China needs to seek out new markets for its electric vehicles. While the country’s automakers have been seemingly locked out of the U.S., they now face additional taxes that threaten to render their offerings non-competitive in Europe However, while the rest of the West has declared war on Chinese EVs, Australia doesn’t have such restrictions, making the country a prime target for a slew of new launches. And although the Aussie EV market has so far been dominated by Tesla , competition is already beginning to ramp up. Toyota Salesperson Supposedly Offers GR Corolla Below MSRP, But Dealer Site Says Otherwise

Image
A salesman posted online that his location had two GR Corolla units selling for $1k under MSRP. However, the dealer’s website indicates that instead, there’s a $10,000 markup on each car. Regardless of which is right, the dealer still tacks thousands on top of the final price in the form of junk fees online. It’s a tale as old as time. A dealer wants to sell a car, but not bad enough to sell it for what the manufacturer says it’s worth. Instead, they use various sales tactics to get customers interested before showing them the real cost. In this story, an alleged dealer employee says that the desirable Toyota GR Corolla is available for under MSRP. The dealer itself wants over $52k before tax, for a car with an MSRP of $39,538. The dealer in question here is Camelback Toyota of Phoenix, Arizona. On the dealer’s site, they appear to have four examples of the GR Corolla when we first looked into this story a few weeks ago. In a public post from Hector O., supposedly a s...

Consumer Reports Names The Most Reliable 3-Year-Old Used Cars, SUVs And Trucks

Image
A study by Consumer Reports recommends the most reliable used cars, trucks, and SUVs from the past three years. 16 out of the 36 models come from Toyota and Lexus, including the sole recommended model in the full-size truck segment. The list proves that Asian brands still have the upper hand in reliability. Reliability is one of the main concerns of used car buyers, together with price competitiveness and available features. In order to help buyers navigate through the countless available options in the used car market, Consumer Reports published a list of the most reliable three-year-old vehicles, covering a wide range of segments. Ferrari F250 Hypercar Invite Teases Final Design As New Tester Spied

Image
Ferrari has invited its wealthiest clients for the F250, the successor to LaFerrari. Invite box opens to reveal a sketch of hypercar that echoes 2022’s virtual Vision GT concept. F250, or whatever the final version will be called, is expected to feature a hybrid V6. Update 6/30: Our spies have spotted another prototype of Ferrari’s F250 hypercar cruising the roads near Maranello, as we inch closer to the official reveal. The car remains heavily camouflaged, but its silhouette appears to match the outline teased in the invitation. According to our spy shooters, the new hypercar has an extremely low and flat profile in person and will feature upward-opening doors. Photos SB-Medien New Ferrari hypercars only come along once a decade, and the folks at Maranello are annoyingly good at keeping their design secret until they’re ready for us to see the finished result. But it looks like the brand’s best customers might have been sent a hint of what to expect when the successor...

Cadillac Driver Turns Escalade Into Battering Ram, Smashes Six Cars In New York

Image
A Cadillac Escalade driver in New York appears to have intentionally crashed into several cars. It’s unclear what motive the driver had for the behavior. They caused thousands of dollars of damage in a very short time. Driving can be frustrating sometimes to the point where we just want to tap someone with our cars . It’s a primal urge we’ve all felt bubbling beneath the surface — that fleeting moment where fantasies of a gentle fender kiss morph into visions of full-on demolition derby. Thankfully, most of us manage to keep those vehicular vendettas firmly in the realm of dark humor. But for one New Yorker cruising in a late-model Cadillac Escalade, apparently, the line between fantasy and reality blurred a little too much. Read: What’s With Thieves Using Camaros As Battering Rams? The incident happened near the intersection of 162nd St and Northern Blvd in Flushing, NY. By the time bystanders began capturing the situation, the Cadillac Escalade driver had clearly hit...

Settle The Score: Which BMW M5 Generation Is The Best?

Image
With a new BMW M5 introduced to the world, we take a trip down memory lane. BMW’s M5 lineup started in the early ’80s with the first-generation E28 M5. The latest G90 M5, features 717 hp — nearly thrice the amount the original offered. We’re not sure how BMW expected their new F90-generation M5 to be received, but judging by the general chatter on the interwebs and, of course, the comments on our own articles, many of you seem to be a little disappointed. Not only is the new car slower on paper than its predecessor, but it’s also a lot heavier. Whether that weight gain translates into a less engaging driving experience on the road remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: any perceived disappointment is only because the M5 has had a stellar record of exceeding expectations. Indeed, this is one lineup of cars that has pretty much been all killer and no filler, with each generation laying down a benchmark for the super-sedan category to follow. Read: 2025 BMW M5 ...
