Lawsuit Claims Subarus Go Rogue, Suddenly Accelerate Without Driver Input

Image
Subaru owners allege that the 2012-2020 Forester, 2015-2020 Legacy, and the 2015-2020 Outback could accelerate unintentionally. Subaru denies the claim, saying that its review of vehicle data shows that pedal confusion was to blame for accidents pointed to in a lawsuit against it. Litigation is ongoing in New Jersey District Court. Subaru of America is facing a lawsuit following a series of complaints from owners alleging unintended acceleration in their vehicles, even with the driver’s foot nowhere near the throttle pedal. These reports paint a concerning picture, with owners describing frightening situations where their Subarus lurched forward unexpectedly. However, Subaru is firmly denying any fault in these incidents. The law firm of Berger Monitgue is representing purchasers and lessees of 2012-2020 Subaru Foresters , 2015-2020 Legacys, and 2015–2020 Outbacks in a class action lawsuit first filed in 2020. The plaintiffs allege that these vehicles contain a design def

Facebook cofounder Dustin Moskovitz accused Tesla of committing “consumer fraud on a massive scale” on Threads. Moskovitz pointed to graphs presented by Tesla AI that he believes were designed to mislead users and investors. Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded with several tweets, calling Moskovitz names and sharing offensive memes. Facebook co-founder and Asana CEO Dustin Moskovitz compared Tesla to Enron, an American energy company that became the poster child for corporate misdeeds in the 2000s, igniting a firestorm of offensive tweets from the EV maker’s CEO, Elon Musk. The billionaire’s complaints revolved around recent information the automaker presented to its investors. On Threads, Moskovitz accused Tesla AI of manipulating graphs to show exponential growth in miles driven by its driver assistance technology, and that the automaker’s deception was “presumably done explicitly to support the robotaxi announcement. ” Moskovitz further claimed that “Tesla has committed con

134-Mile 2002 Ford Focus Appears Again, This Time For Auction

Image
This 2002 Ford Focus has only 134 miles on the odometer, having been kept in storage for most of its life. The car was originally delivered to a Montana dealer that went out of business in the mid-2000s. Driving the car is a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder paired to a five speed manual gearbox. A couple of months ago, we brought you the story of a 2002 Ford Focus that had been listed for sale in Montana with just 117 miles (188 km) under its belt. At the time, it had a $20,000 asking price. Fast forward to April and that very same car has been listed up for auction on Bring a Trailer with no reserve. This Focus LX was originally delivered to the Rygg Ford Sales dealer in Kalispell, Montana. However, the dealership went bust in the mid-2000s and the car remained in storage until it was purchased in 2022. It seems apparent the seller didn’t have any luck offloading the car through traditional means and decided the best way to sell it was through an online auct

This On-Street Boston Parking Spot Costs Nearly As Much As A House

Image
A single parking spot in Boston is on the market for $350k. It’s an outdoor bay with no security or cover from the elements. Some parking spots in the area have sold for over $500k. Boston real estate is among the priciest in the U.S., but it’s not the cost of the houses that’s the real shocker. Parking spaces are so sought after that this one is being advertised for $350,000, and it’s not even in a secure parking garage. Marsh Properties describes the spot as a single bay on Back Street, along the waterside, between Dartmouth and Exeter Streets. Luxury features include “a silver pole at one end and a yellow painted line at the other,” while there also appears to be a tree thrown in for free. American EV Buyers’ Awareness Of Chinese Brands Should Worry Detroit

Image
More than half of would-be EV buyers in America already know about Chinese car brands. Young drivers aged between 18-25 are even more familiar with them. Seven out of 10 said they’d consider buying a Chinese EV if it cost 20 percent less than a Western car. You can’t even buy a Chinese -brand car in America right now, but already the threat posed by Asian automakers is causing a headache for U.S. firms. And American buyers’ awareness of China’s EVs revealed in a new study is only going to amplify that stress. The likes of GM and Ford are worried about Chinese brands trying to set up shop in Mexico to gain backdoor access to the North American market, but the Big Three could at least comfort themselves with the knowledge that it would take those Chinese brands an eternity to build any brand awareness. Fisker Ocean Totaled After Tiny Door Ding Souring EV Dream

Image
A Fisker Ocean owner’s electric SUV was deemed a total loss by the insurance company after suffering minor door damage. The insurance company cut a check for $53,303 as it couldn’t find the necessary parts to repair the vehicle. Now the owners are hoping to make others aware of the potential pitfalls that come with startup vehicle ownership. Door dings and minor auto body damage occur frequently in daily driving. Typically, insurance companies manage the repairs without much fuss. However, when the vehicle in question is a Fisker Ocean, things can go very bad, very quickly, and that’s exactly what happened in this instance. After someone hit Joy Wanner’s Ocean while the door was open, the damage appeared to be minor. But lo and behold, less than a month later, the insurance company deemed the electric SUV from the struggling startup teetering on the brink of bankruptcy a total loss.
