The Dodge Vette Is A Mutant Sports Car Project In Need Of Resurrection With A Hemi V8

Image
For someone who is craving for a Corvette C5 but is tired of the quad round taillights and the stock LS1 engine, then this work-in-progress build might fit the bill perfectly. The sports car has a damaged powertrain, which presents an opportunity for an engine swap , especially one that could match the Dodge-sourced exterior components. Its most notable feature? The rear end, which has been decked out with Challenger taillights, a Dodge emblem, and an SRT-branded spoiler. The rest of the bodywork is mostly stock, but with a fresh set of black 20-inch alloys, the car gives a nod to the SRT Hellcat . Even though the sale includes the radiator, headlights, alternator, bracket, and automatic gearbox, the customized 5.7-liter V8 with a BTR Stage 4 kit has suffered a spun bearing. Consequently, ...

Is This The Most Eclectic Car Collection Out There?

Image
Tucked away in a secluded corner of rural Cheshire, in the UK, an area best known for containing the residences of football stars, is an eclectic collection of machinery that is sure to set a petrolhead’s heart thumping. The collection’s owner, Tony, has slowly built it up over the past three decades with one simple philosophy: buying vehicles he really likes, and using them as often as possible. As he explained to The Late Brake Show’ s Jonny Smith , Tony got into cars at a very early age thanks to his father who was a garage owner and stock car racer, and he had a very hands-on childhood working with his father on his various cars. This early start led to him forming the collection he has today, spread out over three buildings on his property. As Tony relates, the collection seriously started with his 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera, his first “really nice car”, which he bought brand new and simply held on to for 35 years. The black Porsche is still in great shape, with just over 69,000...

Police Misconduct And Breathalyzer Error May Overturn 27,000 Drunk Driving Cases In MA

Image
The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts has ruled that some 27,000 people who plead guilty or were convicted of driving under the influence can withdraw their guilty plea or ask for a new trial. The ruling comes after an investigation that began in 2019 revealed that breathalyzers involved in these cases weren’t calibrated properly. The entire finding surrounds the Alcotest 9510, a breathalyzer made by Draeger Safety Diagnostics, Inc. In 2019 , a court found that it produced “scientifically reliable BAC results” but also that “the annual calibration and certification methodology employed by OAT (Massachusetts State Police Office of Alcohol Testing) from June 2011 to September 14, 2014 did not produce scientifically reliable BAC results.” Subsequently, a woman who had pleaded guilty to the offense back in 2013 sought to withdraw her plea over those findings. As a result of the two cases and how they affect one another , some 27,000 defendants are free to request a new trial or ...

Turns Out A Tesla Model 3 Will Still Let You Drive Without Doors Or Trunks

Image
With all the tech they pack, Teslas are known to be some of the most self-aware cars in the industry. However, automotive YouTuber B is for Build decided to see how many components he could remove from his Tesla in the name of weight savings before the computer wouldn’t allow him to drive. The Tesla in question is a flooded Model 3 Performance that he bought a few months ago for $34,000 with shipping. He actually bought a batch of tour flooded Teslas for $60,000 in total, but seeing as the Model 3 was the only one that could properly drive under its own power, it amounted to more than half the cost. That being said, since it was a flood-damaged car, he wanted to see what he could do with it for fun. He liked the car’s speed, so he decided to see how much weight he could strip from the car in an attempt to make it as fast as possible. Granted, he still wanted to keep the car’s essential functions intact, as well as items like the climate control. More: Yep, A Tesla Model 3 Can Be D...

Should BMW Have Made The i5 EV A Standalone Model Like The Mercedes EQE?

Image
Earlier this week we were introduced to the all-new 2024 Mercedes E-Class , a hugely important car in the luxury mid-size space. And later this year we’ll meet another one, the new BMW 5-Series. But before BMW unwraps the G60 5-Series, it will unveil the electric version of that car, which we’ll see in only a matter of weeks. It’s called the i5 and is essentially a 5-Series with the combustion engine replaced by an electric motor or two. Apart from the design of the grille, the badging and the trim, we’re expecting the two cars to look almost identical. There’ll almost certainly be no change to the glass or body panels, or the interior. BMW has already used that same philosophy to create the 7-Series and i7 that were launched last year, while the i4 is a 4-Series Gran Coupe with an EV heart . But it’s a philosophy that contrasts with the one being employed over at Mercedes on its E-Class and S-Class and their electric sister models. While the i5 and 5-Series are both based on an up...

Image
Last year, Polestar announced that their stunning O2 roadster concept would spawn a production version , and ahead of its expected launch in 2026, we got the unique opportunity to check out a pre-production prototype of the car in person. This particular prototype was one of only two in the world – the other being the Sky Blue one from the launch event – and the dealership playing temporary home to it was Polestar Princeton . Aside from the concept, their impressive inventory included 3 of the 1,500 Polestar 1s ever made, as well as one of only 270 Polestar 2 BST Edition 270s.
