What’s Ford Teasing In These “June 1, 2022” Cryptic Messages And Mustang Logo Change?

Image
The Ford social media accounts are releasing clues to a puzzle that will be solved on June 1. Although the posts are rather cryptic, they may be pointing in the direction of an upcoming new model. On its Instagram and Facebook accounts, the blue oval’s social media team has posted a video of the date 6.1.2022 on a flapping sheet of material with what appears to be a carbon fiber weave. We hardly need to point out that the use of carbon fiber almost always points towards high-performance vehicles. To its Twitter account, meanwhile, it has posted the same date, as well as a tweet pointing to its “favorite emojis lately.” The automaker then posted a circle, a pawn, a square, a hole, a spade, a pair of sunglasses, and an X. Do take a shot at cracking that cipher in the comments. Every BMW Model Going Up In Price For 2023 According To Internal Document

Image
If you were waiting for prices to drop to pick up the ultimate driving machine, you’re going to have to wait a lot longer as according to an internal document from BMW North America, pricing will increase across the board for 2023. A reputable user over at Bimmer Post forums broke the bad news and shared the document while quoting the brand as saying “BMW NA have determined that it is necessary to reflect the current economic situation.” The economic situation that BMW is likely referring to is the industry-wide shortage of semiconductors and other important parts leading to manufacturers to delay the delivery and production of many vehicles. If automakers don’t have any cars to sell, they’re losing out on potential buyers, and thus losing money. BMW Teases New LMDh Le Mans Racer Ahead Of June 6 Debut

BMW took to its social media outlets today to offer us a first hint as to what its new competition hypercar will look like. The automaker also revealed that it will unveil the car on Monday, June 6. Most of the car’s finer details are in the dark, preventing us from getting a really good look at the car. Considered next to a rendering the automaker released in November 2021, though, we can see some of that drawing’s details reflected here. There are, for instance, twin slim vertical headlights, as well as sharp side mirrors and what looks like the top of a huge front splitter. A massive wing, meanwhile, indicates that BMW has not gone down the same development route as Peugeot , which is relying on underbody aero elements for rear-end downforce for its hypercar campaigner. As seen in the previous rendering, the race car’s styling will take

2023 Corvette Z06 Howls Like A European Supercar During Indy 500

Image
In case you missed this week’s Indy 500, you may not have realized that the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 served as the official pace car for the event. Not only that but Chevrolet offered a number of attendees the opportunity to go for rides in the new supercar. In designing the new Corvette Z06, Chevrolet could have quite easily equipped it with an existing engine in its range or perhaps fitted the standard Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 with a supercharger and called it a day. Instead, the automaker developed an all-new engine from the ground up and this isn’t just any normal American V8 either. What’s more, this engine also features a flat-plane crank, forged aluminum pistons, and titanium connecting rods. It churns out 670 hp and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of

The Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae Is The Final Model But Is It The Best?

Image
The Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae will soon go the way of the dodo but to send it off in style, the automaker introduced the Ultimae variant in mid-2021. Created as the ultimate swan song to the iconic supercar, the Ultimae is quite spectacular and was recently tested by Carfection. In creating the Ultimae, Lamborghini decided against developing a car that would be even more track-focused than the SVJ and complete with outlandish wings and splitters. Instead, it decided to make the final version of the Aventador a middle ground between the S and the SVJ. Read More: The 770-HP Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae Is The Swan Song For Lamborghini’s Flagship Supercar This philosophy is most evident in the car’s exterior design which borrows elements from the S and the SVJ . For example, the front fascia is largely identical to the S but does include an active splitter and intake flaps. Meanwhile, the rear of the car has some SVJ-inspired components, the most notable of which are the dual exha

Interest In The Ariya Is So Great That Nissan Has Halted New Orders In The US

Image
Nissan’s first big splash in the all-electric vehicle market since the Leaf is upon us and it’s popular enough that order bookd have now been closed. Deliveries of the new Ariya crossover start later this year in the US but if you were thinking of ordering one yourself, that time has come and gone. Nissan isn’t the first to halt orders in this manner. Ford shut down the F-150 Lightning order process long before deliveries began. It did the same thing for the Mustang Mach-E and even Tesla and Volkswagen have been affected by long order books that outpace production. Ashwani Gupta, CEO of Nissan , told Automotive News “Every customer wants to have it, and we don’t want customers to wait… Ariya has been successfully accepted around the world, even in the United States, we had to request our customers to stop the orders.” A landing page on Nissan’s website confirmed that customers can no longer order through that portal. Ferrari SF90 Driver Smashes Into 5 Parked Cars And Flees The Scene

What is it about the drivers of cars with horses on the grille ? In the latest incident, a Ferrari driver has proven that their car was too much to handle, crashing into five parked vehicles in the U.K. last week. Emergency responders discovered a severely damaged Ferrari SF90 Stradale and its trail of destruction on the night of Wednesday, May 25, in Halesowen, which is near Birmingham. Fortunately, no injuries are reported as a result of the incident, though the driver of the vehicle was not present when responders arrived. Police say they are now attempting to locate them, something that shouldn’t be too hard given how exclusive the SF90 is. “We’re investigating after a red Ferrari hit a number of parked cars in Hagley Road, Halesowen last night (Wednesday) at around 7:40 pm,” a spokesperson for the West Midlands Police told the Daily Mail . “We made a search of the area and spoke to a number of witnesses but were unable to locate the driver. The car has been seized and our wor

Fiat Dropping All Pure ICE Models From The UK Starting July

Image
Fiat announced that starting from July 1, 2022, it will drop all non-electrified variants from its UK range, offering only mild-hybrid and fully electric models. This is another step towards the electric future of the Italian automaker that wants to become an EV-only brand by 2027. According to the official website of Fiat UK, the only remaining models that were still available with pure ICE in the UK market were the Tipo and the 500X, fitted with different versions of the turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, since diesel-powered variants were already gone. Is The Cayenne The Spiritual Successor To The 959? Somehow Porsche Thinks So

Image
The automotive internet sometimes confronts us with an unanswerable question that seems to be designed to create controversy rather than consensus. Rarely, though, is it an automaker posing that question. Last week, Porsche posted a press release celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Cayenne and posed a pretty interesting question in it. Is the Cayenne the spiritual successor to the 959? At first blush, it might seem like a blatant attempt at revisionist history, designed to distract from the base, financial incentives that inspired the Cayenne. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a strong argument to be made. When Porsche was making the 959 , the remit was to create a car as capable of tackling the Dakar Rally as well as the Nurburgring. That led the automaker to give it a height-adjustable chassis and an extra low-range first gear for off-road work. Read Also: The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Is Certainly Quick, But Is It Fun?
